Mental Health
Modern life takes its toll on our mental health. While as a society we have made progress in addressing our mental and emotional struggles, it remains a very personal part of our overall health and many people still don’t know when or how to ask for help.
Sometimes simply having someone to listen is all a patients wants but for patients who are ready, Psychoeducation (learning what the problem is, what it is not and what can be done to improve it) is a great place to start.
It should be up to the patient to choose how they would like to address their troubles utilising the tools that are available including medications, lifestyle modification, exercise, diet and talk therapy.
Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is defined as any pain which lasts longer than 3 months. It is often a complicated problem that becomes intertwined with every aspect of a patient’s life.
Before exploring treatment options, it is important to make sure that the patient has the clearest diagnosis possible so they can understand the cause of their pain and the various ways it is affecting their lives.
Figuring out what helps you live better with your pain can be a frustrating process. Medications are sometimes helpful but many are not safe for long term use.
The best treatment plan is one that; avoids medications which hurt more than they help, finds ways to help you sleep better, keeps you moving, and takes care of your mental and emotional health. This type of plan is your best bet for managing chronic pain and helping return balance to your life.
Problematic Drug use
Whether it be a socially acceptable drug like alcohol, a prescription drug or an illicit one, many people will have unhealthy patterns of drug use at some point in their lives. If its negatively impacting your life, it’s time for a change.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or “CBT” (education about the emotions, thoughts and behaviours related to drug use) can help patients gain understanding about how drugs work and how they affect them.
In some cases, the careful use of medications can also help you change the unwanted or damaging patterns of your drug use.
Sports injuries
Injuries and persisting musculoskeletal problems that prevent you from remaining active, completing your daily activities and taking part in your favourite sports and training, can have a devastating effect on your independence, physical and mental health.
Our goal is to sort out what’s wrong as quickly as possible and help you find the right team of health care practitioners to get you back on track.
